Birthday Card from Two Grateful McCartney Boys.

This is a rather unusual autograph from the McCartney boys.
It is a birthday card for a lady called Muriel. She was a neighbour when they lived in Ardwick Road and it seems that she and her husband saved Paul and Mike from a flooded Lime Pit at the end of their garden.
This birthday card was sent 50 years after their rescue and is mostly written by Mike and signed by both him and Paul.
(Estimate £550-£650)

Mike as obviously very grateful as he also sent this lyrics sheet to Eddie (Muriel's husband) signing it as "one of those brats you saved"
(Estimate  £80-£100)

Clicking the images will take you to bigger versions.

Both items will be up for sale in our 2014 Liverpool Beatles Auction next August.

Parlophone Promo Card.

This Parlophone Records promotional card has been signed by three Beatles but there are four signatures because Ringo has signed Paul's name as well as his own.

It wasn't unusual for them to sign each other names when things were handed in to sign.

The card will be up for sale in our 2014 Liverpool Beatles Auction next August and is expected to sell for between £800-£900.

Beatles Fan Photos

These vintage photos of the Beatles capture the boys in less guarded moments than most published images.
The photos were given to the vendor by the person who took the photographs and are not sold with copyright.
The estimate for this collection of five photographs is £250-£300.

Phillips Studios Record Sleeve

The Quarrymen famously recorded an acetate in the Phillips Studios at 38 Kensington, Liverpool. The door to this studio is now on display at the Liverpool Museum to celebrate all the famous faces that passed through it.
This card record sleeve from the studio will be up for sale in our 2014 auction and has an estimate of £30-£50.

Something New

This export copy of Something New was purchased at the Burtonwood Airbase according to the vendor.
Most export releases were produced for sale on US air force bases throughout the UK and Europe.
The "sold in the UK subject to..." wording on the label was a mistake at the time of manufacture.
The record carries an estimate of £225-£275 and will be up for auction at our 2014 event.

A Good Place To Start

We try to have a good cross section of items in the auction each year because there's always new fans coming along who are interested in starting a Beatles collection. While some of the rarer or signed items may be out of some people's league there are plenty of really nice original Beatles items that look great when displayed and won't break the bank for new collectors.

Beatles jewellery is good starting point. There are several designs out there making it a nice collecting subset and the items look good both on display and when worn.

We already have a few examples in the auction for 2014.
Each of the items shown below carries an estimate of £30-£50.

Christmastime Is Here Again

As the festive season approaches it seems fitting that our first post about items in the 2014 Auction is a bit Christmassy.

Every year the Beatles sent out a Christmas record to the members of their fan club. The records had specially recorded seasonal messages from the band.

The following four Christmas flexi discs are going into the Liverpool Beatles Auction in August 2014 and each ones carries an estimate of £60-£80

New Look and 2014

We've tweaked the page design a little bit ready to start posting about items we have already taken in for the 2014 Liverpool Beatles Auction.

We don't usually start writing about things till January but we already have a substantial number of items in for next year so once we've taken photographs and got all the paperwork done for them you can expect a few new posts here.

If you have anything you would like valuing (it's free) or considering for the auction please get in touch with us. If last year is anything to go by it's better to contact us sooner rather later as this year we reached our maximum amount of lots several weeks before we normally do and this led to some people being unable to place items with us.

The terms and conditions for sellers are available by clicking here.

2013 Beatles Auction - a very quick round up.

Everyone here at the Beatles Shop had a feeling that our auction this year was going to be a bit special, and we weren't wrong. There were some brilliant lots and we are really pleased with the prices some of the items fetched for the vendors.

Lots of people have been asking about the door to 20 Forthlin Road, sadly this item failed to reach its reserve price and remained unsold.

However, our other star lot, John Lennon's tie, did sell. The hammer price was £3120. The sale even made Rolling Stone web site! Click here to read the article.

The lot that took us by surprise was one of the Quarry Bank School text books signed out by John Lennon, one of these contained two early Lennon signatures and sold for an amazing £7400. The vendor was in the room and couldn't believe the price. The other, with one signature in, went for £2800. Obviously there's a lot of interest in early signatures and things to do with life pre-Beatles.

The Junior Mastro guitar still in its packaging sold for £2400. Most of the value there is in the packaging, it's unusual to find toys still with their boxes these days.

The set of autographs obtained at the filming of Magical Mystery Tour sold for £4300.

The sets of five autographs featuring both Pete Best and Ringo Starr sold for £4600 and £5500.

These are just the highlights. Once we've fully recovered from Beatle Week there will be a list of prices for the lots we covered in the blog this year.
