Time To Dig Through The Loft!

It's that time of year again. We've just about recovered from this summer's auction and it's time to start thinking about the next one already!

Christmas is coming so while you are digging out the decorations in the coming weeks it may be worth having a quick look to see if there's anything interesting in the loft or garage or shed that maybe you've forgotten about as you never know how much something is worth.

We offer free valuations at the shop or via email with no obligation to place things with us.

John Lennon's Vox Amp Stand

The VOX AC30 Amp stand pictured below was once owned by John Lennon who swapped it with Tony Crane of The Merseybeats in the 1960s for one of his new stands on castor wheels.  The Merseybeats ceased using the stand in the 1970s and it has been in storage ever since, along with a similar stand that is also part of this lot.

This amazing piece of Beatles history is up of sale in our Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction later this month and is estimated to reach between £2000 to £3000.

Own A Piece Of Merseybeats History - 1964 Gibson Firebird Guitar

I think this may be my favourite item this year.

1964 GIBSON FIREBIRD 3 with a tailpiece later added from a Gibson Firebird 5. It was the first of its kind in the UK and has been owned by Tony Crane MBE of The Merseybeats since new. It was played on the recordings of The Merseybeats hit records : Don’t Turn Around, Wishin’ & Hopin’, I Stand Accused, Last Night, I Love You Yes I Do . It was also played on the hit record Sorrow (The Merseys) alongside Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones who were session musicians at the time as well as on hit recordings, television appearances and live gigs from 1964 through to the 1990’s.  The guitar body was then refurbished and kept at home for private use.
The estimate of this item is £12000-£13000

Sample Beatles Jacket

One of the more unusual items in this year's Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction is this sample jacket made to show to The Beatles by Frank Till of Ian Mankin Ltd. The jacket was taken to the band during the filming of A Hard Day's Night and sometime later John can be seen in a similar jacket in photographs from the Pigman Ranch in September 1964 .  Comes with a letter of provenance from Frank Till's son which gives details of other clients and recounts how a car was sent for his father and was mobbed by fans hoping to see the Beatles.

This item is being sold in aid of Cats Protection (Registered Charity 203044 England and Wales SC037711 Scotland) and has an estimate of £500-£700

Handbill for The Beatles at Heswall Jazz Club 1962

Handbills can be very rare items of memorabilia as they were items designed to be discarded after they had served their purpose, so more ended up in the bin than being kept. This makes them highly sought after items with collectors, particularly if it's one they don't have.

A Handbill for The Beatles at Heswall Jazz Club on 24th March 1962 is going under the hammer at our Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction later this month.
And it's current estimate is  £1500-£1700

Very early Paul McCartney autograph on the reverse of an Albert Marrion photograph of the Beatles with Pete Best in their leather outfits. It may seem a little scruffy around the edges but then again so were the Beatles at this stage!

I Call Your Name - American Pennants with mis-matched names

These American Pennants are lots of fun. If you look closely they have the wrong names with pictures. I suppose at the time The Beatles were seen as a passing fad and little things like their names right didn't really matter to the manufacturers. These are great display items with the added fun of waiting to see if your friends notice the mistake!

They go up for sale as a lot of four in our Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction next month and have an estimate of £80-£100

Yesterday And Today Beatles Album - Peeled "Butcher" sleeve

The infamous Butcher sleeve.
Originally this image was to have appeared as a very small as part of an icon at the end of a gatefold piece of album art conceived by the photographer Robert Whitaker. Sadly the epic piece never came to fruition and in their wisdom, someone at Capitol used the now notorious image as the album cover instead. Once stores refused to stock it with the image the covers were pasted over with a much less controversial image of the fab four and a large packing trunk.

This is a third state, or peeled, Butcher Sleeve. (The original uncovered sleeves became collectable so some collectors peeled their second state, or pasted over, albums with varied results.)

As you may have guessed this peeled Yesterday and Today album is going under the hammer in our Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction this coming August. It has an estimated value of £300-£350

She's Got A Ticket To...East Ham. - Original Beatles Concert Ticket

Beatles Concert tickets are still very collectable items.

It cost 10/6 at the time but the current estimate for this item in our 2019 Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction is £100-£120

Rory Storm Business Card

Rory Storm and The Hurricanes were probably the most entertaining group in Merseyside. Rory would leap about the stage and give it some welly at gigs, indeed he even injured himself jumping off the amps once.
