An Early Clue To The New Direction?

A few years before forming Apple Corps the Beatles were used in a campaign featuring apples by the UK Dental Board.

These posters appeared in dental surgeries in the mid-sixties encouraging people to end their meals with an apple.

The estimate on this poster is £200-£250

It is one of several lots that will be sold in our Liverpool Beatles Auction on 24th August 2013.

A signed spoon.

This wooden spoon was signed by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1969.

It was part of an Event Package that was given out at Institute of Contemporary Arts on 10th September 1969, where there was a screening of some of the pair's avante garde films. The pack included various flyers and a tin tray/cake tin to bang the spoon on as a noise-maker during the screening of the Two Virgins film.

The spoons were all pre-signed by John and Yoko before they were handed out.

Estimate - £750-£1000

The 2013 Liverpool Beatles Auction takes place on Saturday 24th August. Items are being taken in for the sale at The Beatles Shop on Mathew Street, Liverpool. Click here for more details.

A Good Place To Start

We try to cover a wide range of items in our auction to suit all pockets. We know that there are a lot of people looking to start a Beatles collection but items like autographs are currently beyond their price range.

These two items are charming pieces of original memorabilia that shouldn't break the bank and look very good on display.

Irish Linen Tea Towel - Estimate £30-£40

Ballito Beatles Stockings in original packaging - Estimate £40-£50

John's School Books

Items from the early life of the Fab Four always get a lot of interest, especially school related memorabilia.

Over the years we've had caps, scarves, ties and photographs from their various educational establishments. However not everything has had a direct connection to an actual Beatle.

These two text books from Quarry Bank School do have such a connection. They were both used by a certain J Lennon of  form 1VC.

They both have a school book room form stamped on an inside page where pupils who where using the book that year would write their name and form. Presumably this was so lost books were easily recovered and also so if a book a damaged the culprit was known.

The school boy Lennon wrote his name in both of these books, in fact the copy of The British Isles by Thomas Pickles has his name written twice, one instance with the L made to look like a British Pound sign.

This probably makes them some of the earliest examples of his signature.

The books are being entered into our Beatles Auction in August as two separate lots. They carry an estimate of £2000-£2750 each.

If you have anything you'd like valuing or for consideration for the annual Liverpool Beatles Auction please see the contacts page for details of how to get in touch.

Welcome to 2013!

Happy New Year everyone!

We have already begun to take items in for our 2013 Liverpool Beatles Auction. Watch this space for details.

As ever we have a limited amount of space in the auction so we encourage people contact us as early as possible with anything they would like us to consider.

We rarely take in more that one of an item so this is another good reason to contact us sooner rather than later.

All valuations are done for free, please see the contacts page for ways to get in touch and the availability of the manager to personal callers. He is the only person who does the valuations and it would a shame for you to carry items all the way to shop to discover there was no-one available to advise you.

We never value any autographs without seeing them. If you are sending us images either via email or regular post of autographs (or any other item) please make sure they are good, clear images.

If you telephone us for a valuation (not autographs, we do not value those over the telephone - see above) please have the item(s) to hand. There may be certain things we need to know about it in order to give you a value.

Please take a look at the FAQ section for more details and at the Sellers Notes page which details commission rates and payment details.
