Early Beatles Autographs on Cavern Club Card

This lovely item as just been taken in for sale in the auction.
It is 1962 Cavern club card.

But inside it is rather nicely signed by all the Beatles, including original drummer Pete Best.

This nice early set of signatures carry an estimate of £2225-£2500

Beatles Monthlies

The Beatles Shop sells a selected amount of original memorabilia as well as organising the annual Beatles Auction. Perhaps the most popular items of original merchandising are issues of the original Beatles Monthly magazine.

The publication ran from 1963 to 1969, a total of 77 issues. There was also three special Christmas Extras and special repeat issue that featured the best photographs from early issues.

The magazine’s photographer, Leslie Bryce had unrivalled access to the group throughout the 1960s, travelling the world and taking thousands of photographs. In addition, Beatles roadies Neil Aspinall and the late Mal Evans wrote many of the articles, and artist Bob Gibson created numerous cartoons and caricatures of the fab four on a regular basis.

The hardest issues to find are number 1 and the later issues from around 70 onwards, particularly the finally issue number 77.

A full set of 77 issues are for sale in the auction in August and carry an estimate of £400-£500

There is also a 1966 Christmas Extra in the auction. This is estimated at £30-£35.

Toppermost of the class?

Quarry Bank School plays an important role in the history of the Beatles. Not only did John Lennon attend the school from 1952 to 1957 but he also used a line from the school song to name his first band - The Quarrymen, and from the Quarrymen the Beatles were born.

In the fifties caps were very much a part of school uniforms and this cap is part of the uniform for Quarry Bank School at that time.

Items that revolve around the childhood of group members are often fascinating for fans and collectors alike. Last year we had a number of school photos and there is already an Liverpool Institute Book in the auction this year which features listings for George and Paul, and now we have cap from John's old school. I wonder what will turn up next!

Beetles or Beatles?

I adore this sweet dish! It's a lovely design featuring musical beetles. It's obviously an item created to appeal to Beatles fans in the 60s without using any Beatles images and logos. I often find these sort of things far more interesting than the NEMS licensed items.

Cavern Club Card 1962

Rather neatly we now have Cavern Club Cards from 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964 in the auction.

It's not just the Cavern and Beatles...

Items from the Cavern and referring directly to the Beatles are obviously of most interest to Beatles collectors, but there is also a lot of interest in other Merseyside Venues and groups.

This Iron Door membership card is valued at between £30-£40

This collection of club items is valued at around £20-£30. I love the name of the "New Shaking Around Club" - Do you shake, rock or roll?

This is a small sample of around a dozen Merseyside band business cards which are all together in one lot in the auction. They are estimated at £30-£40 (I wonder what the Bilbo Baggins Band sound like?)

This small collection of Merseyside concert tickets carries an estimate of £40-£50.

Apple Poster and One Million Apple Note

Here are a couple of nice Apple promotional items.

This poster was issued in the very early 70s by what remained of the Beatles Fan Club.

It carries an auction estimate of £30-£40 and as you can see comes folded.

Dating from the late 60s this One Million Apple cheque was sent out to promote the company and has an estimated value of £100-£120

We all ride on a Yellow Submarine?

I love it when I get to see novelty Beatles items I've never seen before.

This Yellow Submarine bicycle seat is one of those items!

It was made by Huffy in the USA and dates from 1968 to tie in with the film.
Not sure you would want to use it as an actual bicycle seat nowadays as it carries an estimate of £700-£800.

EMI Promotional posters for NEMS artists.

I try not to get too personal about the items in the auction but I love these! If I could I would be bidding on them!

These promotional posters where produced by EMI and sent to shops to promote the artists. They are perfect for framing and putting on the wall.

The posters carry an estimate of £100-£150 each and are entered into the auction in separate lots.

Liverpool Institute School Motto Patch.

It's always great to have items that link directly to the venue of the auction.

We already have a Liverpool Institute Book in the auction, and now there's another item linked with the school which is now the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts.

This patch which probably would have been proudly worn on a school blazer features the School's motto

It translates as - "Not for ourselves, but for the whole world were we born." (The phrase is also used in Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio.)

Estimate - £40-£50.
