More Original Beatles Novelties Up For Auction

This Beatles "hummer" invites you to "hum along with your official Beatles hummer". This flute like piece of memorabilia carries an estimate of £150-£200 and will in our auction next month.

These Beatles Autographs Are Not All They Seem...

It's quite well known that some Beatles autographs were done by various members of the entourage.

A lot of the time we see Neil Aspinall versions of the signatures, but this is a set created by Mal Evans.
It may not have the same value as a real set of signatures but we still expect it to reach £200-£300 in our auction next month.

Even George's mum got in on the act. This set in her her hand carries an estimate of £150-£200

Rare Apple Boutique Jacket Designed By The Fool

I feel spoiled for choice over favourite lots in this year's auction, but this is a contender!

This fabulous sleeveless jacket was purchased in the Apple Boutique. It's red/orange and fluffy with a yellow/gold brocade on the edges and hook fasteners - the photo doesn't really do it justice. It was designed by The Fool and has an Apple Boutique label.  It's one seriously groovy item.

The Apple Boutique opened its door towards the end of 1967 and closed them again barely seven months later in July 1968.

This fab bit of gear is going under the hammer in our Annual Beatles Memorabilia Auction next month and is estimated at £400-£500

Bob Wooler's Notebook

This notebook was formerly the property of Cavern Club DJ Bob Wooler. It appears to date from the 80s and is full of band names with occasional notes on band name origins, personnel etc... It includes Frankie Goes To Hollywood and even notes that the Icicle Works had recently changed their name from the Icicle Bureau.  Bob obviously kept up to date with the local music scene over the years!

There's even a section at the back where he lists a few potential band names!

This notebook is going to be up for sale in our Annual Liverpool Beatles Memorabilia Auction in August and is expected to sell for between £250-£300

Looking To Start A Beatles Collection?

New Beatles collectors are springing up all over the place and sometimes the cost of items can be quite daunting.

One of the cool things about our auction is that we often have items for sale that suit young collectors starting out. Both the items below are things that are easily displayed and don't usually run into triple figures to buy.

This mug is a Vogue Tams version. These were produced in 1964. The image was also used on plates and bowls. (Repro Alert - in later years a firm obtained some transfers and put them on more modern cups and plates. These can be distinguished from the originals because they have gold rims)

The estimate on this mug is £40-£50

Beatles jewellery was also very popular in the 60s. It was an easy thing to cash in on by using beetles so
there's a fair amount of it that wasn't approved merchandise. This is one of those pieces, but it's fun and frivolous and most of the jewellery retains its value over the years.

This pendant is in the auction with an estimate of £40-£50

This ticket was for live performances at the Cavern that would eventually be used in the documentary Beat City. Click this link for an article about this in the Liverpool Echo a couple of years ago. The estimate for this item is £20-£30
