Early Parlophone Promotional Card

This is an extremely early Parlophone promotional card for The Beatles, featuring an image from their first recording session. Some of the very early promotional cards are rare and this one is signed on the reverse!

However it is signed by only one Beatle! As often happened one band member, in this case George Harrison, has signed his own name and then copied the signatures of the others.

The estimate for this promo card is £400-£500

Ringo's a doll!

Cute eh? Okay perhaps not, but this is an original Remco doll from the 60s. And is estimated to fetch between £40 -£50.

Let's Go Down the Cavern..and the new one too!

Cavern items always feature in our auctions. Here's a couple of items that cover the club old and new!

First of all there's a membership card from 1964 and an blank membership form. The card dates from after the Beatles stopped playing at the venue which means it is less valuable than those covering dates when they did play there. But the club member would have seen an amazing array of Mersey Beat bands over that year.

This lot featuring both the card and the form is estimated at £60-£70

Of course the Club eventually closed and was filled in, before finally being demolished to make way for the Cavern Walks Shopping Centre that stands in Mathew Street now. In 1983 the owners of Cavern Walks opened the replica Cavern Club that still houses a myriad of music groups to this day. This is the press kit for the relaunch.

It carries an auction estimate of £20-£30

NEMS Receipt.

This item is quite interesting. It's a receipt from a NEMS store for a cassette recorder purchased in 1960.

In fact when it goes up for auction on 28th August 2010 it will be exact 40 years and day old! The receipt it dated 27th August 1960. And the cassette recorder cost £35.14.

(Please note the address on the receipt has been blurred on the image, it it not like this on the actual item)
This item is estimated at £10-£15

Step Inside Love

It's Cilla!

This is a rare NEMS promotional card for Cilla Black, the only female artist on NEMS books. Promotional cards for NEMS artists other than the Beatles can be hard to find, and although not highly valuable they are certainly of great interest to collectors.

This card is also signed by Cilla herself, although autopenned versions exist.

The estimate on this item is £20-£30

Casbah Club Card and Juke Box Jury Ticket

Here are two recent entries for the 2010 Auction.

First of all a rare ticket for the Beatles recording Juke Box Jury

The show was on 7th December 1963 and sadly no longer exists in it's entirety in the BBC archives, though audio versions have turned up. The estimate on this ticket is £150-£175

Last year in the auction a very rare Casbah Club Membership was sold for an amazing £1950. As often happens this caused people to check their attics to see if they still had theirs. Consequently another fine example of a card from the club has surfaced.

The Beatles played the club 18 times during the dates covered by the card including their last ever show at this venue on 24th June 1962. It is estimated at £1200 - £1500.
